Is it me or is it that everytime I try to download the latest 10.5 drivers from ATI for my M17x they never seem to install? Is this a problem only I'm having? Or is this Dell only allowing us to use their 5870 drivers? Please help! Thanks everyone

That's an issue for everyone as far as I know. The card seems to be restricted to Dell only drivers.

Oh ok. I was just trying to make sure that I wasn't the only person having this issue. Does anyone know if this problem is something that might be addressed in the future or our we stuck using these Dell drivers forever?

No one knows. We can only hope the Dell representatives present in these forums take light of this and pass it on to their superiors and something gets done. I currently have an order for an R2 with 5870's that I'm canceling on Monday, this is one of the reasons why I'm canceling my order.

This is for single Crossfire only or for single cards too ?, cause till i read around here some people are using ATI Catalyst drivers . . .

And yet another set of customers with a poor AMD experience... I'm sure there are corporate "reasons" behind it, but really if a vendor (HP, Dell, etc) is going to take it upon themselves to be the only source of drivers then they have to keep up (the prices of these machines speak too much to just leave someone on their own for drivers, especially with crossfire or sli setups), or they have to get on board (no matter what it takes) with the GPU vendor's driver program.

Both Dell and AMD are losing sales because of this, every time someone has a problem even if there are 50 people who have no problem at all, it only takes a few to make folks ask why they should spend 000's on these systems for these kinds of basic problems.

I've got the same issue with my Crossfire 4870s and Catalyst 10.5 (Mobility 10.3 installed fine, never tried 10.4). I was able to install the drivers manually through the device manager, however. I've separately installed the Catalyst Control Center form the Dell drivers. Not sure if this will work for the 5870s as well.

it's the bios with the a05 i can't install 10.4 or 10.5 now i have the bios a02 again and i can install all the catalyst. But with one or two 5870 you need the a05 bios.
