    Hi lads,

Can I ask for an advice what I'm doing wrong? I'm using my Alienware M17x-R2 with two Ati cards 5870 on windows 8 (64bit). For now I'm stuck with Ati Catalyst 12.10 where everything is working fine. Any time I'm trying to update drivers to the new released version I'm losing brightness control, both FN+F4/F5 and this under power options. My monitor is working on full light what is not good during an evening.
I have tried everything in my opinion, of course clean install - drivers removal, safe mode, reinstall etc. I have followed many other advices still no luck. I have the same issue on both 13.9 release 13.10 beta 2 and I had it over and over on any drivers > then 12.10 :(
Maybe you have any other idea to try? Do anybody of you guys have the same problem on M17xR2?

    many thx in advance.

It is normal to get those issues with new drivers on the m17x R2, since the platform was not verified for Windows 8 we will not be releasing specific drivers for it. You will need to try the workarounds that are on this forum.

It's a bit patchy with Windows 8.1 RTM on my m17x r3, but at least FN and F4/F5 work, it's just the OSD that's borked.

Try going to "Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options > Plan Settings"

Do the "Adjust Plan Brightness" sliders work?

This is not OSD related issue, these sliders not working too. But in CCC you can do this :)

Thx Luis for you answer, I'm aware that you are not supporting W8 on M17x-R2 platform. I was just curious what changed from Catalyst 12.10 release that is affecting this. Its need to be tiny thing but very annoying. This is also affecting brand (at least with my opinion).
I will be glad if you can put me in direction where I can find any workarounds, PM me if possible.

    thx
    /Maciej

    Hi,
Do you have any advices for workaround, how to get the control over this issue? and registry change will help? anything.
I'm just feeling pretty bad with this lack of support from alienware/Dell side :(
