    Hi all,

A week ago or so I saw a thread saying that I could download an old driver to get soundmaxx or wavemaxx or something to make the sound sound better, but I can't find it anymore. Can anyone direct me to the link?

    Regards,
    Justin

Make sure you go into device manager first and remove the following two devices:

    IDT Audio Device
    HD Audio CODEC

(since I removed the newer driver I don't have access to the actual names, but they are something along the lines of the names above.)

Download and install the following Dell package:

    IDT 92HD73 Audio

Thanks! I couldn't find the HD audio codec, there is only nVidia High Definition Audio (there's like.. 5), and I removed the IDT already. What should I do?

there is no necessity to do so. I didn't delete anything, only uninstalled audio driver, rebooted, installed the older ver, rebooted, now the waves software is there.

I did exactly what you guys said twice, but it gives me this error
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
and I have to go back to normal. What now xD
EDIT: now, the driver just re-installs itself o.o

run CC cleaner IN SAFE MODE (press F8 prior to windows load up, menu will show up, select SM), check for registry errors, try installing again.
if doesn't behave: try running CC cleaner safe mode again, after - reboot, open device manager, Rclick on pc-name icon, Detect Hardware Changes... that should do.
P.S. do you run driver update with administrator rights?
