M17x-R3 systems with GTX580m enters P8 mode and slows down the system performance when running high performance applications and/or games like Unique Heaven, Crysis, Furmark, etc.
    * Download and install the latest Vbios version (R316408). If installing the Vbios does not correct the issue, contact Alienware Support ( Alienware Gaming Computers Official Support Site | Dell. They need to setup an onsite service to to replace the video card heatsink and thermal pad assembly

We know there is a thread on this. And the new vbios doesn't fix throttling completely. It merely makes it less aggressive by throttling from P1 @620 to P1 @475. It is not a fix it is simply a way of making it look like there isn't throttling. Plus Throttling to P8 still occurs when your system hits 78C. AMD cards can go to 85+C without throttling. Clevo systems can do it on any card. So it is the not the video card's problem. Replacing the video won't do anything. People have had to resort to custom vbios fixes such as the one in my sig.
