    Hi guys,
Let me start with this headache that I have since 1 week and I cannot solve. First of all the system is an ALienware M17 R4 with AMD 7970M, I had a crash during a game, the screen just was blocked so I had to reboot the notebook, so I pressed the button until it was off, then I pressed again to turn it on but a beep repeatedly started to sound, so I pressed the power button again and the computer was off, I tried again and again the beep, I tried 4 times until I had a boot, them in windows the screen started to freeze and then a message appears "the display driver has stopped working and has recovered", then I had that problem always, and from that time when I tried to change to switchable graphics card and the computer reboots, it doesn't start and the beep, beep, beep start, I have read a lot here so I think that the Bios was corrupted so I downloaded de A5 Bios, but the problem was not resolved, so I decided to format and this is the 3 time that I do, I tried everything, but now just after I install the intel hd drivers and I switch to discrete and installed the drivers after the reboot I had BSOD, then restart and I log in again and I started to have the problem with the screen and "the display driver has stopped working and has recovered". I have tried with all the drivers and always is the same.
The last thing I did was reflash the A2 Bios again but the problem persisted, so please guys could you please help me.
    what options do I have?
The system was bought in powernotebooks (amazing guys) just 2 months ago, but now I'm living in Australia, I still have guarantee?, because I really don't know what else I can do. and the system its almost new!!!,
    Thank you very much Guys!

How many beeps on start up?

The beeps are an error code. Refer to this chart from Dell:

    Dell - Support

8 beeps, according to the chart is an LCD issue. But sounds like a card problem to me. Did you get any temps on your GPU? Have you had a look at the card, check the pad arrangement and Thermal paste?

The max temps that I had were 75degrees with full charge, I have never seen the back of the card, should I?

If your comfortable with taking your laptop apart can you try these steps:

    1. Do a simple powerdrain without Battery and AC

    2. Do a powerdrain with removing the CMOS-Battery (bare in mind, when you do a CMOS power drain, your BIOS will reset to factory settings so make a note of changes you made as you will need to change them back, like boot order if you have SSD or if you have changed to ACHI from RAID it will revert to RAID.)

    3. Remove the Keyboard, now reseat the following conectors: The LCD-Cable with the blue little blastic atop , the 3 Antenna cables at the WiFi card and the Webcam connector. Put everything back in place.

Or, if you have a spare GPU floating about, perhaps try changing out your 7970m and seeing if thelaptop boots with a different GPU.

If I do that can I lose the guarantee??? The guarantee is International??, can I make valid my guarantee here in Australia, even if I bought the laptop in USA?

No these wont void your warranty.

If do go viathe full power drain, you will get 5 beeps on boot, follow this guide:

Alienware Mobiles - 5 Beeps after turning ON the system | Dell

As for your warranty, who did you buy from, Dell? A private seller or a reseller?

Well, let me tell you that the problem was finally resolved, after tried everything that Joe told me, it I finally called to Dell Australia looking for assistance and the person of support took control of my laptop and he started to download the drivers of the Dell site, I told them that I already have all installed, then after a while he told me if I can install again the AMD drivers, and I did it and everything works well now!!!! Looks like a driver is missing in the dell cd that comes when you bought an Alienware system o maybe I screwed no installing that important driver!!
Anyway Thank you very much Joe for helping me!!!

No Problem. Glad you got it sorted. People with a similar issue may be able to try your driver.

    Good job!
