Hi, everyone: I tried to install the newest ati 11.1 driver for my 4870*2 graphic cards in Win7, however, I could not get the crossfire function enabled. This has happened since AMD released their own reference driver.(also there are 4 adapters showed under the CCC system tray menu with no crossfire tab, there was supposed to be only 2).

As long as I have the DELL's driver installed, the crossfire always works without any problem. I am just wondering the causes of this issue. Is that a Vbios problem (maybe my 4870s are from earliest batch, so the vbios is different from later batch?), or its just a AMD driver issue? Did any R1 4870 usesr experience the same issue? Please give me some info. Thanks

I have the same problem, anytime i try to do a clean install of AMD's drivers crossfire NEVER works and i have never found a solution to that problem. Both cards will show up, but i get no crossfire options.

I've found that the way to do it is to do the "have disk" method from the hardware manager after having the Dell driver installed. The problem with this though is that you have to stick with the control panel from the Dell drivers.

This time around, just to see if i could get away with it, I straight installed 11.1a over the dell drivers without uninstalling first, just to see if it would work, and sure enough, it went without a hitch! Haven't experienced any problems at all.

If you're afraid to try that, just install the dell drivers, and then do the have disk method. You'll be stuck with the old control panel, but it will install the new drivers.

Could you do me a favor? Try to disable your crossfirex in the control panel, then see if you could still enable it back. Thats the problrm I found with your installing method.

I had a similar if not the same problem as both detailed above.

After I tried to do a clean install of 11.1 drivers on my ALienware Crossfire options totally disappeared from the CCC and CCC2 control panel options.
I tried so many different things however each time I was unable to get the crossfire options back.

So in the end I gave up and just did a system restore back to before I had installed the new 11.1 drivers. I then checked that crossfire options was back and enabled. Then I just installed 11.1 over the top of the existing AMD GPU drivers and everything is working great now.

Perhaps give that a go and see how it works out for you.

    Cheers. :)

Hi, Reborn, can you disable and enable your crossfirex option without any problem when you get the 11.1 installed?

    Hi there Panyihan,

Yups, I just tested it out for you. I disabled and then re enabled Crossfire whilst running 11.1 driver version. It seems to be working fine.

Are you still having issues with crossfire whilst running 11.1?

    Cheers. :)

Yes. Did you also install the new Catalyst control panel? or you just keep the DELL one

I personally installed the new control panel, but to be honest it's nothing more than a bloated version of the old one. I think it mostly has newer features for the 6xxx cards (tessellation options etc)

I installed the full package with the new control panel as well.

    Cheers. :)
