    Hey guys,

I've searched through numerous threads about the RGB screen available on this unit.

I just picked one of these up from the Dell Outlet.

In the build sheet it lists the following:

    1 8WG28 Module,Liquid Crystal Display,17WUXGA,Light Emitting Diode,M17X10

From some of my searches I see that this is indeed the RGB 1920x1200 screen but then I get more contradicting information from the vast amount of posts regarding this screen.

I just received the laptop and my max resolution is 1440x900. A generic driver is being used by Windows and the laptop did not come with a drivers disk.

Im truly hoping this is just a driver issue and not the fact that the listing on the Dell Outlet site was incorrect.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Fernando

install Astra32 or Hwinfo(32 or 64) and look under Monitor.
Google the serial number or post it here and you'll find out what you have.

But if it was advertised as RGB Led and also the specs sheet states so but you do have the 1440x900 i'll call them and get things right.

What video card do you have? I'd go download the drive.

Install the graphics driver. You won't get proper resolution without that anyway. They did make the 1920x1200 NON-RGB display and by that description it definately doesn't look like the RGB model

    Serial Number : 0

I used astra32 to get this info.

I have the Radeon 5870 in crossfire.

I installed the most recent driver for the video cards as well. That was my first attempt at fixing the issue.

This should be a RGB LED panel. Must be something wrong with the drivers.

Which version of HwInfo you installed? When you click Monitor make sure you expand it and click it when it shows, you should have a list of details on the right window of HwInfo.

    That's what I figured.

I already called Dell and explained the issue. The replacement is in progress. Hopefully I'll know in the next few days what kind of system they are sending me.

    Thanks for all the help.

Same thing just happened to me, got a 1440x900 ccfl instead of the 1920x1600 RGB LED screen. Then they tried to send me the non RGB 1920x1600 screen, and I had to refuse that repair and now it looks like they are finally sending the correct one.

Folks, if you get your screen replaced or whatever part, make sure you check if It's the right part and that everything is in working order before the tech leaves.

    Cheers

    hello there,

exact same thing happened to me and I did realize it after 4 months :(

    part no: 8WG28
build sheet and order acknowledgement: UltraSharp WUXGA (1920x1200) RGB LED Display

however, it says "SEC5442 monitor" on hwinfo

I am trying to fix the issue with Dell.

Edit/note: should I ask for a replacement with J2CY8 or 9PHFF? - thanks in advance.
