Hi Guys just wanted those select few with 285m SLI setup that the latest Nvidia 260.99 drivers work perfectly for our
M17xR2. With Nvidia Inspector you can highly customise the SLI profiles and get some great games SLI setups.
Have found no problems so far but will report if i find any.
one i have found is if using MSI Afterburner GPU o/c tool sometimes when launching it freezes computer completely
-
I just got my M17x with SLI 285m, but have not updated any drivers so far, I have been playing a bunch of games on it, and everything runs great, I'll try this out though and will post back on what happens.
-
Can someone please run a bench of Crysis very high, 1080p, x64 and dx10? And then on 1440x900?
Thanks a bunch. Just doing some comparison. -
-
Both please! Thanks.
-
Will do it tomorrow getting ready for new years night in AUS
-
Thanks, I'm excited to see the results. I forgot to mention, please do the tests with AA of 16xQ, it'll your system but it'll provide me a fair comparison.
-
Well, I don't have Fraps installed, so I'm going off of my play experience, which is a ton of console gaming, I know the diff. between 30 and 60 fps...With the sli 285m config, I was running Crysis at a consistent 30 fps, that is with AA off, and Medium settings on almost everything. That is also at the highest resolution to match the RGB LED.
I am a newb with this thing, and do not know how to overclock yet, hopefully this helps with your comparisons.
It was still playable with all the settings cranked up, but personally I would rather have more speed and less detail, as even at medium, this game, which is 3 years old, craps over console FPS's.
Cool idea with the suit variations, and the environment interaction is something that has yet to be replicated by any console shooter. -
Just went back in and tried the recommended optimal settings that the game selects, it had High for everythinhg, so I turned the AA to 16xq, and Vsync on.
It was choppy, probably in the 15-20 range, turned Vsync off and it was at a steady 30...I guess it's taking me a while to adjust to the game speed coming from Black Ops, which is a faster shooter.
How can I check actual FPS for you? I'll be happy too, just not sure how to do it. -
Hey, just wanted to thank your for your efforts so far. You can use the crysis benchmark tool found here. HOC Crysis Benchmark v1.5 download from Guru3D.com
Be sure you run it as admin.
Looking for the following benches:
1920x1080 16xQ AA Very High
1920x1080 No AA Very high
Thanks! -

A big thanks to the both of you. +rep.

out of interest what are you comparing it too?
-
Do you mind running those same tests again but at 1400x1050? or whatever the closest res is to that. You might have to disable full screen in the game as well. I'm just seeing if the M17x is worth my investment at the moment lol. I appreciate your benches though.

Well thanks again bro. At least for now, I won't be going with a R2. If not 1080p I expected a little higher frame rates off 1440x900 with min 2xAA.
-
Is it possible to do one more test at 1280x1024 16xQ and the likes? Thanks! Last one I promise...
-
I just ran Dirt 2, maxed out on highest Rez and highest AA, WOW!!
This is the future of gaming right now, you could tell me this is what PS4 and Xbox next will look like, and I would believe you.
I am absolutely I awe of this beast of a machine, an am becoming a huge believer in pc gaming. Wow. To all those contemplating the 285s vs the Xfires, you can't go wrong with the 285s, it's stunning. -
So I thought this was about settings, not benchmarking...Can anyone share what they have found to be the best global settings in the nvidia control panel?
-
It's best to leave the global settings alone and tweak games either in game or individually in the panel. At least that's how I always do it.
-
Hmmmm......Im thinking the opposite. There are plenty of other tweaks you can do while leaving major ones dependent to in-game settings. -
Well, best bet is to try it out and see, no harm in that lol.
-
i've yet to run any 200 series nvidia driver on my 285s that didnt cause freezing during gaming, video playback or web surfing so i'd be interested to hear if you've tweaked this at all for better stability. i see 266.35 was just released so i'll probably give those a whirl in the next few days to see if the bugs have been worked out yet
-
do the 266 driver cause random freezing (NO BSOD, ACTIVITY From Numberloack key) mine is doing that now freezing randomly in windows whil using firefox etc but never in games?
-
I am going to try and install the drivers that were released on 1/4/11 to see if I have better performance in-games (most importantly, Crysis). I am running at all medium settings, AA off, vsync off (not sure if vsync is off, will check when I get home) and I am only getting 23 fps and hiccups...
EDIT - vsync was off, so I will try the new drivers to see if that has any effect on the fps.. -
-
hello can some one upload his GTX 285M bios please thank's
-
Here we are
extracted from GPUZ
M1 = GPU1
M2 = GPU2
Extracted in order of GPUZ M1 top of list -
thank you brother !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
