I just got my 920XM cpu and I'm going to use new paste and thermal pads on the cooler. Should I use 0.5 or 1.0 thermal pads? I want the best cooling I can get.

    Thanks
    Brandon

I think you should only use thermal paste for the CPU...

Ditto. The contact area between the CPU and the heatsink should be made with thermal paste. The voltage regulators need thermal pads, though. I used 1mm Fujipoly pads.

Sorry yes I only used paste on the CPU, it was the pad on the side by the voltage regulators I was asking about. I ended up using 1.0 size.
So right now my idel temp is right at 40c and when running 3dmark tests it gets up to 74c. Room temp is about 24c. Is that running hot or am I ok?

Those temps are very acceptable. Some people are getting into the high 80's when doing their benchmarks.
