    Hi Guys,

My screen on my beloved Alienware M17xR2 has gone.

I am trying to find a supplier in Australia without much luck!

I have seen on Ebay many R3 screens for sale, are they compatible?

Also while I am at it I need a touch pad unit too.

Can anyone recommend any one locally to the Perth area or even anywhere elae in the country I can get it posted.

    Thanks

    Rich

Hello, djrichcmusic, i don't know of any third party parts provider in Australia but i may be able to help you in a different way.

Do you know which type of monitor you have, RGB LED or one of the two Dual CCFL models (1920x1200 or 1440x900).
If your monitor is CCFL backlit the inverter might have gone bad and you may have better luck finding that part instead of a whole screen assembly.

If you turn on your computer and point a flashlight to the screen, are you able to see anything?

Katalin is right, it might have been the backlight only. The m17x R2 and R3 screen have different part numbers on our system so they might not be the same one. You should take a look online for the R2 part only.
