    Hello All,

Before I ask the question; I'm not so much concerned about costs here... just wanted to ask is there a reason one would choose a 512GB vs. 256GB other than disk space? I don't have very many applications on the hard drive which is 500 GB. So I'm really thinking of performance wise... Will the 512GB out perform the 256GB that much? Hope I'm asking the question correctly...

    Thanks so much,
    Bone

    Hi Tone-Bone

In my experience the main difference would be space. Granted you can check the specs on various drives and see what their Read/Write performance is, but generally speaking a 512GB drive will not out perform a 256GB drive, it's mainly a matter of space and how much you need/afford.

Some manufacturers have more NAND channels with the larger the SSD you go. Generally 256 GB and larger are generally the fastest SSDs. 512 GB SSDs are pretty pricey, at least 600+, while there was a deal last week for a 256 GB Crucial M4 for 200 bucks.

OK, I'm not real savvy, but I thought that might be the case. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thanks so much! Bone
