I am new to the laptop area and am concerned that my intel 740 is showing as only 2 cores and 4 threads in cpu-z and aida64. Do I have something set incorrectly ? It shows 4 cores and 8 threads in device manager but windows doesnt seem to be using them? Can someone explain this phenomenon. In a desktop I would assume a bad processor or faulty motherboard.

    Thanks for any Input

Go to msconfig, boot tab, advanced options, and uncheck the number of processors box.

I appreciate the advice but this caused the system to blue screen on boot. Does anyone have a system that is using all the cores and threads this processor offers??? I have noticed that all of the MX17xR2 screen shots that i see of cpu-z show two cores and two threads.

A complete reinstall resolved all issues. :)
