    Hi Everyone,

I ordered a new M17x R2 and it arrived yesterday. While checking it out i found that the CF section of the ati driver reported that the CF cable wasnt connected.

I just disassembled the unit and plugged the cable back it. I had to remove the GPU heat sink so i cleaned up the goo and replaced it with AS5.

    Soooo....
the ATI driver doesnt report an error in the information box on the diags panel so is it working correctly now?

How can i test it/tell if its working?

Is there a software package that will check and report if its working? Bench it and compare?

    thanks all

Gpu-z will tell you if crossfire is enabled.

Also if you dl radeon pro tools you can select to show when games or applications are running or utilising Crossfire. It will show a Ati Crossfire logo up in the right hand corner of your screen when you are running a game or crossfire supported application.

    Cheers.

I'd run a benchmark to see. Run 3Dmark06. If all is well, and your on any other bios other then A08, your score will be around high 18K-low 19K. If running bios A08 then your score will be a lot lower since the A08 bios cripples the extreme CPUs (920XM/940XM)

You can also test by running a game.

The first thing to do is to go into the Catalyst Control Center's Crossfire section and make sure that Crossfire is enabled. You won't be able to enable it if the cards can't talk to each other.

When that's enabled, you can use the ATI system tray tool to turn on the Crossfire logo. Right-click the icon, select the first 5870 entry in the list, go to Crossfire settings, and click the option to show the Crossfire logo.

If all's going well, you can now start up a full-screen 3D game, and you should get an ATI logo in the top-right corner of the screen.
