    1. I own an m17r2 which only has 1 hard drive in it. in case i add another one will this void my warranty?

2.Can i install non alienware windows on my system? and if yes will the alienware stuff(alienfx etc) work ok?

3.I ll get another 5870 soon. I live in UK. any UK resident who might know the price and the part number for the fan and the card?

I don't know about the R2 really, but my R1 came with an OEM Windows 7 disk, and a separate apps/driver disk.

    1. No, this won't void the warranty
    2. Yes, but you'll have to manually install all the "AW stuff", including login screens, avatars, etc.
    3. Just call AW

I have to ask why do a fresh install? The defualt/factory install is very nice and clean. The only bloatware, and I use the term losely, in my mind would be the face log in feature. Which I think I paid for anyways.

This isn't a brand new HP laptop with 3 million crapwars running. It's a nice clean gaming ready install. The very few things that are on it can easily be removed from remove programs in the control panel.

Maybe he has an Ultimate disk that he wants to try, or a different version of windows altogether?

In that case, if you can borrow someone elses windows 7 disk, or download an image of a disk, you should be able to install it and use your key on the bottom of the unit. If it asks for the key you can type it in, if it's like our OEM disk that doesn't even prompt for it, you should be able to change it to yours so that you are fully legal and activated :)

I've done this on many machines in the past, admittedly not windows 7 but I bet you can still do it.
