Hey guys. I'm hoping you can help me with this one.

I'm getting 0x09f "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" BSOD's. On analysis of the minidump it shows that the problem is ACPI.sys. Over on sevenforums I was told that it may be a BIOS bug. However if that's the case I'd expect a lot of R3 owners to have the same problem. Is anyone experiencing the same thing?

Here's a copy of the minidump:

ACPI has to do with your harddrive(s) and the motherboard controller.

The last time i saw this error, all i did to fix it was replace the ACPI.sys file with one that i downloaded off the web.

Thanks for the reply. If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the ACPI.sys file?

Well I used to have the same issue, I figured it was a GPU error, Alienware has issued a new VBIOS update, I haven't had a single BSOD since I updated.

I've already updated the vBIOS and I'm still getting the same BSOD. However I'm still on A04 BIOS but before I update to A08 I want to see if it is indeed a BIOS problem.

Its hard to say unless you can find someone with that exact config with that BIOS version.

You can always try a re-install (on a different drive) to see if it clears your issues.

Duly noted and thanks for your input. Perhaps that's the reason I haven't been able to find many instances of people complaining of this problem on their R3's. Which is why I was surprised to hear it was a BIOS bug.

ACPI is the Sata controllers. Could be the bios or driver though.
