I have the problem that I can not install a driver from NVidia and I can not adjust the 3D feature in the NVIDIA Control Panel, because there is no option in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Every time I try to install a driver from NVidia get the following error message:

    Code:
The NVIDIA Installer can not continue.
The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.
If I determine the NVidia graphics card, the following stands:

    Code:
    Product: GeForce GTX 780M
    Current Installed Driver: 331.65
    Recommended Update:
The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.

The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook
manufacturers to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior. NVIDIA has
worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates, however, most notebook driver updates
must come from the notebook manufacturer. Additionally, the desktop GeForce graphics drivers will not install on Geforce M
series and Quadro M series notebook GPU's.
    The GTX780M have follow Hardware-ID:

What can I do, so I install the drivers from NVidia and the 3D function can be set in the NVIDIA Control Panel?

Could the latest driver from NVidia install, but still in the NVidia panel can not be adjusted. I now have the text Test Mode at the bottom right. Is this normal and I need to step 3 always make a new driver at Nvidia?

Hi, you'll never get the 3D option to appear with a GPU not sold with the model. It's hard coded somewhere in the BIOS :(

I've used the .inf from laptopvideo2go for non-standard configurations. LaptopVideo2Go: Drivers

Don't know anything about 'test mode' though....

The scenario is that the GTX 780m does not support 3D function in the NVidia control panel and I need to install a special driver?

That it is exactly what happens when an unsupported GPU is used. The hardware is not detected correctly so the driver does not show the feature. The driver auto-detects and if 3D IS detected you briefly see a command window open up and some files are copied. Whenever I have not seen this window the Stereoscopic branch is missing from the driver control panel :(. I just had to re-install the driver since I was messing with something else and had to roll back.

There was a standalone 3D NV driver a while ago, I'll see if I can find it. Could be a possibility but I won't hold my breath!

You would think it should still be there since 'Discovery' mode (2 colour glasses) should still be an option? No one has managed to get a modified BIOS to add-in the later cards that I have found, so give up on 3D for a faster card.

I'd like to go up to a 780m but love my 3D too much - looks like getting a little longer and biting the bullet on a new one for me...

Edit: Driver Details | Dell UK

The standalone 3D driver should work, let us know if that helped.

The stand-alone 3D driver did not work, the 3D option in the NVidia Control Panel is still not selectable. Anyway, then I have to adjust in the game.

With the guidance of j95 I can Easily install the drivers from NVidia.

Didn't think it would. You simply cannot get 3D to work on any card not sold with the model :(.

    Step 2 & 4 are for Win8 (Disabling driver signing/Test mode)

    Exit test mode :
    Command Prompt (Admin)

-Type "bcdedit /set {current} testsigning no" -> enter.

    -> reboot.

3D Vision won't work (internal), plugging an external monitor (Mini-DP or HDMI) will make the 3D option available... "3D Einstellungen verwalten" set multiple display performance mode -> mini display port (only) -> 120Hz monitor.

Nvidia drivers look for specific hardware key combinations to allow licencing of the 3d technology on the inbuilt display.

Specifically Mobo ID, GPU ID, Emitter ID, inbuilt display ID, still possible to mod ... :)

This relates to the two previous posts. Only cards sold with a model allow the 3D to install correctly. The best GPU you can use and still retain 3D is a 680m - and the reason I upgraded to one ;).

Since you have an unapproved combination you will need a modded driver file specific to the version you are trying to install, but you're probably never going to get 3D back. There is one chance and I've been trying to find someone else to try it. So far one person said it worked and another said it didn't

That is to find someone with a desktop 3D kit and borrow the emitter. Re-install the driver, if you see a brief file copy window open during the install then the stereoscopic option should be there.

    Good luck ;).

Edit: You say it's OK on an external monitor - do you mean a 3DTV or a 120hz monitor connected to the display mini-port?

That's interesting, you see the stereoscopic options or the TV3d just works?

I was told that only the mini-display port provides all the access needed for 3D @120hz .

That is great news. I thought only using an 'approved' GPU could you get the 3D to activate.

Have you tried it with the NV glasses? If all I need is a decent 120hz monitor then I can look at more powerful GPU's without sacrificing those games that are great in 3D!

    Thanks!

HI Micky!,you can used only the glasses who have been furnished with the screen which is connected to the HDMI port, the Nvidia 3D vision glasses not works, the IR emitter too, because the internal screen is not avalaible.for exemple,i have two monitor 3D,an Philips 273Gdh (3D active glasses) and an Asus VG27AH (3D passive glasses),i have connected the two monitors, one after the other, you can only used the glasses that come with the corresponding screen.Bye.

Thanks for that. I was afraid that was the case! What if you plug in an external NV emitter though? It could work? You might have to use the mini-DP connector.

@ethervapor. What make and model of monitor are you using and the cable type? thanks again.
