Whenever I try to use the HDMI out, I immediately get a BSOD with an error message of the file "ATIKMDAG.sys".

HDMI IN works fine but OUT just constantly gives me BSOD.

I updated my latest drivers AND bios files. I can't think of anything else except for hardware issue related

Intel 3000? I'm not quite sure.

I do notice there's a ATI and an INTEL. I'm not sure how it works.

I know there's an HDMI OUT and IN but are you saying that I'm able to switch which video card I can use for the HDMI OUT? (ie. ATI or INTEL)

Happened to me too today. Then auto updated drivers 4 times on my nvidia gtx 580m and blue screened. Then turned it back on and it worked. Strange. Not sure if its good now or what.
Also does the screen stay on with just the background when you go to HDMI out? Mine does.
