    Hi,

I am interested what displays are now in M17xR3 (FHD)

If you just have got your M17xR3 please check what model is in it.

    hwinfo shows that info.

    Thank you

ahh... switching to integrated was the issue... I was thinking I couldn't find it since I'm running unsigned beta drivers.

I have exactly the same panel as prank1 above.

edit: machine ordered sept 8, finished build on sept 20.

is the AU Optronics B173HW01 V5 the one to have? I haven't followed screens too closely.

I noticed it reports that it's 6bits per color, making it only capable of 262k colors without interpolation/dithering. but I think that's fairly standard for TN panels.

I have the same monitor (LG Phillips LP173WF1) as aldam, but it has a different Dell P/N (mine - VCV1F v. aldam - (MGNC7). LOL. This screen is a replacement and is brighter than the original.

My Hwinfo just shows generic non-pnp monitor. No model or manuf. will display even when I switch to gpu 1 or 2.

How do I get it to display the monitor spec's?

the v5 is the best screen you can get stock in your alienware. You can only get the v4 if you put it in yourself. I would be very happy if I have the AUO v5!

Dont know my screen because mine shows only generic php monitor (or something like it), i still have 2 open it up

    Don't open it up!

Switch to intel graphics and then check Hwinfo for the name of your monitor.

I wonder if they mean switch to intel gpu from our alienware laptop and not within Hwinfo.....

Now how do I switch to the intel gpu?

FN + F7 does nothing... Right clicking on Desktop and going into AMD CC does nothing either.

    Correct.

Try restarting your computer and then switch the graphics card, then check hwinfo when you're running on intel gfx card.

unfortunately my intel card doesn't work because I did not install the amd drivers over the dell drivers. It worked finally so I didnt want to touch it anyomore. I will re-install them some time soon to check my screen

Closing Internet Explorer windows worked for me. FN + F7 allowed me to switch thereafter.

Monitor = LG Phillips LP173 WF1, same as Aldam

The 120hz screen is certainly better. I have both and the 120 is significantly brighter but not sure about color. Buy Batman Arkham City (when released) and enjoy 3D gaming.
