I have the M17xr3 and it has the 580m GPU.

I want to have 2 external monitors along with the laptop showing. Would be really cool to display the 2 external monitors as one long monitor for games and such. Maybe even the laptop? The laptop is of course a 17" but the two monitors are 24"

It looks like i just need a active display port adapter.

Anyone use the eyefinity stuff with a nvidia card?

Eyefinity is an AMD exclusive technology.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe your configuration will allow you to have only 2 monitors at once.

hmm maybe ill switch to a AMD GPU? what is comparable to the 580m? I saw the 7790 or something with the 90 series in it, but it was a bit cheaper than the 580m, but looks about the same? Are they made cheaper?

Interesting read. Thanks for the link. I wonder whether this is limited to the 600 series desktop GPUs or that it applies to mobile GPUs as well.

I'm just surprised it took Nvidia so long to catch up. Eyefinity has been around for a while, yes?

Yea but as I understand it, ATI/AMD had the patent on the technology.

I believe you're referring to the 6990M, it's a really good card. About pricing, it's cheaper than the 580m for several reasons, one of them being it doesn't support 3D.

I think the laptop issue is to do with the way the ports are connected to the GPU. The HDMI and 1 other (Maybe display port?) are connected straight to the GPU where the last port is through the CPUs graphics chip.

nVidia has had 3D Surround for a long time now, Ive got it on this desktop with a 590
