M17xR3 Switchable Graphics BIOS

A quick question which I hope will be relatively easy to answer or point me in the right direction.
I disabled the IGP a long time ago because switchable graphics was annoying me so I preferred to stick to the 6990m all the time. I now want to enable it again, but I can't recall which settings to change and I don't fancy tinkering too much in there (especially since I've just spent the last hour thinking I'd bricked it and had to take the 6990m out before I was able to even get back into BIOS to change things back).
As it stands, if I take my 6990m out, the IGP works fine; if I put the 6990m in and disable the IGP, the 6990m works fine; if I enable both, however, the hits the fan and the screwdriver comes out to play (black screen, boot loops, can't even get into BIOS on account of having no display and rebooting every 2 secs).

If someone could please share with me the details of their BIOS settings, I'd be very grateful! I'm sure it's just a simple change, probably associated with that "PEG" stuff which I don't understand. Cheers...

Sounds like your video driver for your HD3000 is corrupted, I had this same issue, please follow the instructions in the provided link and report back once you reinstalled drivers, remember to install the HD3000 drivers first (located on the dell website for your model) and then the AMD drivers for your 6990m after http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...all-amd-ati-not-have-rely-driver-sweeper.html

 

make sure your bios is set to SG or switchable graphics.

 

Hi guys,

I have Alienware m17x r3 with AMD 6970M. After I installed windows 8, I installed catalyst 12.11 beta unifl but the problem is I can not switch from intel graphic to AMD graphic and it shows me black screen and in reboot as well.

Also I have old Bios version (A03), is it important to change to new update.
