Hi all,
Faced with a problem - just got a 970m 6gb and it works perfectly under Microsoft Adapter driver![]()
But technology does not see my 120hz screen at all after installation of Nvidia Drivers
Tried several vBios options MSI, Clevo, Dell,
Tried different drivers packs - latest 411 and modded 352.84
MB Bios A15
Fresh Windows 10x64
I checked the signal on HDMI after installation Nvidia drivers and it works perfectly but the internal screen is not even recognized
Any ideas so far?![]()

You might have to modify the INF file for the driver to install
-
Drivers have been modified they were successfully installed but no internal screen was recognized.

Where was the 970m sourced?
@ssj92
Maybe he can give a better direction than I, I never used the 9XX in my system. -
The card was sourced from aetina.com the panel serial number LGD02C5 (LG Phillips)
GPU Device instance ID -
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_057B1028&REV_A1\4&13F92896&0&0008 -
So just to be clear, you are running a Aetina 970M and a 120Hz Panel that was not originally installed in the laptop?
Any reason you went with the Aetina card? I ask because there are others out there for quite cheap.
Try these drivers. Make sure to use DDU to clean out any old driver files.
Also how much did you pay for that card? I ask because there are some decent prices on eBay for all the possible upgrade paths:
970M $197: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GTX-970M-Graphics-Card-6GB-MXM-DELL-Alienware-15X-17X-18X-HP-MSI-GT70-GT60/223699618835?hash=item3415894c13:g:TkYAAOSwzSNdnppX&LH_BIN=1
980M: $279: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-nVidia...497392?hash=item364a66fcf0:g:IVIAAOSwZrtclhGK
1060: $370: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nvidia-GeForce-GTX-1060-6GB-DDR5-MXM-3-0-Type-B-for-Alienware-Clevo-MSI/202578352916?epid=16028487546&hash=item2f2a9c5b14:g:RCQAAOSw5pRcSDe1&LH_BIN=1

Personally I would have gotten either 980M or go all the way to 1070 at this point in time.
Also to be clear, 900M series cards work with any stock panel , even if 60hz or 120Hz PEG mode since they were the last to support LVDS panels.M18x-oldie, Sentarshi and Reciever like this. -
Yes you are totally correct i just upgraded the bottom part of my R3 to R4 and keep the R3 panel.
860 kepler edition works like a charm. The main issue is that after driver install Laptop does not see my Panel even in
Hwinfo Cant realize why. After drivers install monitor connected Via HDMI works good. With no issues.
I will try the drivers but this is protty strange.
Regarding the card - i just got it by good price brand new -
-
But it works with Microsoft driver i mean *Microsoft standard adapter*
I tried several vbioses including prema but no luck... -
Tried the drivers you provided the same result
-
Can you use the external HDMI and run a benchmark using external display?
Also try this...
Run an HDMI cable from the "HDMI OUT" port to the "HDMI IN" port of the laptop. -
Okay I will try I will post the results...
-
So.. hdmiIn doesnt work at least in current setup not sure that i installed OSD
Tested on TV ilusing MiniDP -Hdmi furmark no issues fulhd preset works great -
Let me know if you figure it out 1070M hdmi in also not working.
-
From current investigation somethig wtong with EDID i found that nvidia driver forces the EDID override for the card creating virtual screens for some reason. Continue working on this.
-
Try out CRU utility to mess with the monitor settings
-
@ssj92 already. The issue is that actual display is not recognizing correctly im able to limit Hz but brigness control still not appearing.
-
So is the display technically working? I mean if you shine a flash light onto the internal display, is there a picture? Just no backlight?
-
No it loose signal but if you close open laptop it is recognized as display

Fresh news:
When the system is running under current GTX 860m Monitor asset manager is displaying two panels of my LG - one with (Registry) tag and one with (Realtime) tag. When 970 is installed - no (Realtime) panel is recognized - seems this is the issue -
-
@ssj92 Tried this before =(
-
Mailed to @Prema hopefully he will have a second to thing about my sad case...
