    Hello folks,

I own a M17xR4 which is around 4 years old. The GPU is a GTX 675M. Is it possible for me to change the graphics card to something better, like a GTX 960M or so?

    Thank you,
    Best regards,
    Chums

Yes, but right now you would have to go to Win 8.1 or higher.
Swick1981 is working on modding the BIOS so the 900 series of nVidia cards will work with Win 7. I think he is done, but it hasn't been tested yet. The GTX 960M isn't much of a bump up from the GTX 675.

Do you have the 120Hz screen?

970M or 980M would see a big bump!

the 900 series work with win 7 but you have to use optimus and boot in uefi with legacy support

Yeah. It's the guys with 120Hz screens that are having issues, correct? No Optimus in that config?

it means you can't use win 7 if you have that panel.

yeah should of made that more clear if you have 60hz screen you can run win 7 with 900 series in m17x r4 with optimus
doesn't work if you have 120hz

I would prefer to run Win 7 in PEG mode, no IGFX.

@woodzstack does good cards (got mine off him)

worth a look to compare mobile GPU's but they don't use the same laptop (different processor, resolution ect.) to test the GPUs so just look at it as a routh guide

the problem is that the GPU needs uses a certain display output mode that isn't used in win 7.

Ya ! my cards da best ! HAHA. No,m seriously, I pride myself on attempting to be the very BEST supplier. A lot of growing pains, like I'm definetly the small business type, but I try and have the best support. Many other companies can't afford the time and effort to help buyers, but I can not afford NOT to help you ! Maybe oneday I will be big enough to actually have a degrade in service and quality and still be successful. Seems all good companies die from this eventually. Bah, I think i'm going nuts trying to download Game Of Thrones Episode I missed cause stupid PVR recorded too many shows at once, and didn't tell us until it was too late..argh
