    M17xR4 LCD Upgrade to a good IPS display? (not just 120hz)

    So as the title infers, I have a M17xR4, but it has the stock 1080p 60hz screen. I was wondering if anyone has advice on upgrading this to something along the lines of a modern IPS or AHVA type LCD. It is easy to notice that when hooked up to a decent desktop monitor how the stock 17" has extremely poor color accuracy. I would prefer something that can do 99% adobe rgb with the best viewing angles I could get. However all I seem to find is just replacement screens that are probably the same. Some commented that the 120hz screen is superior in terms of color, but I would like to be able to switch back to intel graphics in order to use the HDMI input (which I cant get working on Win10 with the 980M in dedicated) I gather the process is complicated because the monitor has the alienware chassis that forces the glossy screen cover. Also, since I upgraded this R4 with a 980M I wonder if anything with G-sync a possible option?

    It sucks that everything else about this laptop is still rather current, but the display really holds it back.

    Out of the box the colors are way off, I would suggest to use the color profile provided in review of the R4 here:

    This wil provide a massive improvement compared to the stock color profile.

    Unfortunately the R4 only has a 40 pin lvds and a weird 50 pin edp connector. All of the IPS panels that are available use a 30 pin lvds connector. Not to mention that swapping the panel itself is very hard.

    For the M17x 4 you only have two screens, either 60Hz or the 120Hz. The 120Hz display uses WLED, color saturation/vibrance is excellent. Some say the RGB LED in the old M17x R2 is the best, never seen it personally.
    If you need the HDMI input you can still use it with the 120Hz display/ 980M. If you want to use the integrated GPU the 120Hz will not work.
    As for G-sync it requires a separate module coupled with a G-sync ready display.
