Hi guys! Here's the thing. Got the new AW system today and some of the keys don't seem to respond: 1-4, 7-9, p, backspace and del (on numeric pad). Tried to unplug all the attached to the kb ribbon cables - no go. Weird, i see this issue for the first time on AW system! Any thoughts? Tnx

Turn on the onscreen key board and check if you are able to use it to type a notepad or the affected keys.

Next hookup a external usb keyboard and test for the same keys.

If its giving the same problem with external keyboard then its software or driver related or even viruses.

If external keyboard is fine..it points to some hardware issue on the integrated keyboard.

Try uninstalling the keyboard from device manager and let it reinstall..

Ensure the Keyboard ribbon is correctly slotted in.

Dont worry about it. Its easily replaceable if its defective...

as a first time owner of Alienware laptop (mine is coming in next week due to delay), I am very worried after seeing quite a few of these posts regarding new R4 arrived with problems these past few weeks. Is the QA being cut short because of the delays and trying to rush them out to meet deadlines for deliveries?

It's probably more likely that all the people who aren't having problems are enjoying their laptops instead of coming here to tell us that nothing is wrong. Only the bad stories are worth telling.

Sadly I guess there is a 'delay' in production if you do put in a request for a new keyboard. I have a faulty keyboard as well, and it's been 3 weeks. Still nothing. By the time they decide to ship the dang thing I won't even be living at the same address.

So be aware of the delay...

You mean the keyboard or the computer? The keyboard replacement should not be taking that much it usually ships NBD.

Keyboard. The man I'm in communication with from Dell says they are delayed. Not sure what he means exactly, if they are out of parts or what.

This is exactly correct. I have to admit I haven't spent much time on the forum after getting mine. This machine has been flawless so far!

So i've hot my keyboard replaced yesterday) Switched my US default kb to the Russian one so i even saved a little on engaraving the keys. Everything works perfect now! Finally a happy owner of AW system...

It took 15 days for the replacement to arrive for some Dell European service center which is not that bad and was worth to wait. Of course the it was covered by the warranty)
