Hi can anyone confirm if m17xr4 shares same LCD lid with r3 as I cannot find part number or even one in stock anywhere.

Yes, the M17X R4 has the same lid as the R3. Just a couple screws will allow you to slid the lid off and move/replace.

If you are going to swap the lid you can save yourself a whole heap of time just removing the keyboard frame/Touchstrip then tilt the screen at around 60 degree angle or so and in between the gap of the chassis and screen you will see the 2 small screws holding the lid on. Once you remove those 2 screws the lid slides right off. You just need a small philips head screwdriver.

Other wise using the service manual they want you to remove the entire screen which includes quite abit more work and wire tucking etc plus all of the above.

Hi quadzilla, I will have to do complete disassembly anyhow when I will be doing the swap for both lid and base. Its still gonna be few weeks away but there will be a special thread here for it ;)

I actually was trying to search for a lid teardown/screen replacment tutorial and found bits and pieces of how to do it. I'm upgrading my 1600x900 display to the 1920x1080. Sounds like its going to be a basic plug n play. I was mostly curious about the lid and how it comes off.
