    Hello!
I have a problem with my Alienware M17xR4. I was reading some articles in Web when suddenly whole screen became white, music stoped and computer didn't respond to anything (including ctrl+alt+del). So i turned it off by pressing and holding power button for few seconds. After that I wanted to turn it on but now my Alien won't boot - screen is black, keyboard and all butons (including Alienware sign on front) are backlighted, alien head on back is off. No beeps at all.
I don't have external monitor so can't test it now. I will call technican on Monday (still have NBD) but maybe I can do something by myself before that?

take out the battery for a while, hold the power button for 15-20 seconds, put the battery back in a try to switch it on.

you might also try running it off mains only with battery removed.

Thanks, will watch this vid after work.

@kefan777 - thanks for answer, but that didn't help.

    I tried almost everything:
    - remove battery, power cord, hold power button
    - remove CMOS battery
    - LCD BIST - nothing happened
    - plug in external monitor (VGA) and tv (HDMI) - in both cases screen on external display was black - inactive, like without any signal from laptop
    - remove RAM - two beeps with both RAMs removed

Tomorrow technician will change motherboard - hope this will help.

have you tried booting into safe mode? if it gets into safe mode then your problem is probably the video card.

I may already be to late from keeping you from installing windows again. That isn't needed. I just replaced my motherboard myself about a week ago. The motherboard came with A11 BIOS on it (apposed to the A10 that was on my bad mobo) I got a BSOD first boot.

All you have to do is remove CMOS for about 30 seconds, hold power button down with no battery or PSU plugged in for another 30 seconds, plug only the PSU in with no battery, while holding FN+F4 (I beleive) the whole time, then press the power button. Don't let go of the FN+F4 until the Diag. screen comes up. After that you can release the keys, let it reset the board and run some test and you will be good to go.

Sorry I didn't catch this sooner, I may have been able to save you about 2 hour worth of time.

    Thanks for the info :)

Sadly, problem is back. After Windows reinstall I was installing drivers and had some problems with graphic card driver - I have Radeon 7970M. After installing driver and restart Windows stuck on loading screen (black screen with Win logo). Restored system in safe mode to point before installing last driver, restarted laptop and everything looks ok. So I decide to change graphic card and try installing driver again - but after pressing Fn+F7 and restart display was black...
On Monday tech will come with a new graphics card.
