Now obviously I know the 1920 x 1080 screen (60hz only) has more pixels on it. Other then that though

Does the 1080p screen have brighter whites?

Does the 1080p screen have deeper blacks?

Does the 1080p screen have higher color accuracy?

Does the 1080p screen have a higher color gamut?

Does the 1080p screen have a faster response time?

Does the 1080p screen have wider viewing angles?

Does the 1080p screen have a higher contrast ratio?

Does the 1080p screen have richer more vibrant colors?

Catch ma drift? Is the sole difference between these 2 screens strictly the resolution and nothing else?

HI I can answer that question.
    1. Yeah you're right
    2. No they don't have brighter whites, deeper blacks, higher color accuracy, higher color gamut, higher contrast ratio.(these will depend on color quality)
3.No, faster response time matters of screen refresh rate. which you specified is same.
4.Well, yeah, the better resolution, the better things look.
    5. Unless specified differently, YES, the sole difference between these 2 screens are strictly the resolution and nothing else

    "Just resolution"

Gotta LoL at that a bit.

If your using it for any high end application, I personally think not getting the 1080 would be a sad day.

IN FPS's you will be able to see farther clearer. Ever wonder how those guys can headshot you with a M16 better then you can with your sniper?

IN Graphic Applications, you will have a much bigger canvus to work on. See more, and also see better zoomed a bit more out. Clarity is everything!

IN Word applications, well if you got this machine for the pretty lights... umm go with the m11x.

The only reason I see for the lower end rez if you wanted to save some money so you can hook it up to an external monitor or TV.

mmm i only play starcraft 2 and a 2d mmorpg called tibia

and yea i have a 2560x1600 30 inch monitor i could hook it up to but thats hooked up to my desktop but i could easily hook it up to both use display port from m17x r3 or something as my desktop is hooked up vial dual link dvi

and 1600x900 looks fine on my envy 14 i don't know if 150 dollars would be worth it. Starcraft 2 looks fine at 1600x900. I don't play any first person shooters or anything else. I play starcraft hardcore many hours a day. I wanna be a pro someday (yea i know will never happen)

Can I utilize your Thread? :p

I currently own a Asus G51vx with 1366 x 768, I use it mainly for gaming and movies and I'm thinking to buy a M17xR3 (and I'll probably use the HDMI in for the PS3)

The differences (image quality?) between these (768p, 900p and 1080p) are really noticeable?

My major concern is the "future proof" (aka: gaming performance), how much are the frames difference between the 1080p to 900p?

Btw, I used to play Tibia too... A LOT... :(

If you have a 6970 in there I wouldn't worry much about it, and if you're going for "Future Proof" you really should get a 6970, not a 460m

how can you say so? DO you actually own both or found somewhere the specs of the two screen models in question? I would very much like it to be true, cuz for G73, the AOU 1600x900 model is way worse than the FHD one...

Resolution completely depends on how far you are sitting away from the object. This is also related to pixel density. If you look at Apple they made their handheld products over 300dpi (which is better then print quality) and thats because you have people keeping them as close as a few inches from their faces.

    Chart: 1080P Does Matter - CarltonBale.com

Thats kinda of a funky chart since you only see 20in, but it gives you a demostration that the closer you get the more it does matter. Expecially since you only sit about 2-3 feet from your monitor!

So all your friends that have 40" screens and sitting 10 feet away... wasting their 1080p screen!!!!

what im saying is if the only difference between the 2 screens is the number of pixels and nothing else about the 1080p screen is better then its really not worth 150 more dollars. They only charged +200 for a 1920x1200 RGB LED screen. The regular 1080p should only be +100 if the RGB led was +200. Maybe even only +75.

Does anyone have any concrete information if the difference between the 900p and 1080p screens is just pixels or if actual other properties of the 1080p screen is also upgraded?

He's saying that the 6970 spanks the 460, letting you play future games with less worry of obsolescence.

For M17X R3, No Definitely it's not about Resolution issue!

The 900p is a AUO129E model. This is a very low end panel. It's looks horrible(even worse than my 3-year old Asus N series laptop). Its viewing angle is very narrow.

For my case, its white color is kinda yellow compare to normal screen, and there are small vertical lines flashing on the screen.

If seen several people buy the lower end panel, say it looks like crap and then return for the 1080p version and its much much better.

Yes, the 900p has more pixels................STICKING OUT IN YOUR FACE, because the resolution is so low for the size.
