    M17xr3 White Screen 8 beeps

    If anyone has any information on this that would be great.Today i used my laptop no more than an hour later i opend it, to a white screen and 8 beeps. I contacted dell and after on off, batery removal etc. I was told that 8 beeps was a software issue and that it would cost 269.99 to have a tech come load new software on the laptop. However what i have read says this is a hardware issue, and my laptop is still covered within the one year warranty. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance ! :D

    When I tried to replace my 460m with a new 580M i got the same 8 beeps I was told it was the graphics card that was bad.

    I had the same issue with my first R3 9 months ago straight from the factory. I turn it on for the first time and it did the same thing. they came out and change both heatsinks, the gpu, the motherboard, the keyboard and it still did it. I ended up getting a brand new replacement. Thats all i know.

    i got the same problem, when start the computer, i just get a black screen and 8 beeps, then i call dell and they told me, my LCD have problems, and they change my LCD and WOW, problem gone. Amazing, first time dell know the problem. thats not GPU problem

    Mine is refurbished and it just started doing the 8 beep thing ( twice consecutively)...I just got it a week ago. My system is in the process for a replacement anyway due to wrong screen installed...

    Well i also had that problem about 6 months ago. whitescreen + 8 beeps = LCD. just change the lcd and your problem is gone. if it shows a blackscreen + 8 beeps = GPU or LCD.

    So call dell for a lcd change.
