Well, it's massive to me anyways saying as i paid just shy of two grand for it
Brightness....any chance?? i can't turn the brightness up using the fn-f5 and f4 keys. Just shows up saying 'dimmer' and 'brighter' but doesn't actually change.
Second....i just installed windows to my Intel SSD and, on loading to the main screen (after startup) i have NO connections to the internet available....i cannot connect for the life of me. So how on earth am i supposed to download all the drivers (and probably WIRELESS driver to actually connect?!)?! I'm really getting annoyed now as i only have today to sort this problem out as of tomorrow i have no internet connection.
So asides from not connecting to the net on a dim screen...everything is fine! FYT the dim screen thing is applicable now (using the default HDD as oppose to my newly installed SSD)

what are your specs?
ok don't freak. Until you solve your brightness fn key issue, you can adjust your brightness via:
Control Panel\System and Security\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings
I solved my brightness key issue by reinstalling the OSD application found on the driver CD.
ALSO...did you load the wireless driver from the driver cd? -
Ok...admittedly i may have jumped into this without thinking properly. I feel like an idiot. I did just open it up, didn't even get time to play with it yesterday, and went out. I didn't even realise i had a crudely burned CD with drivers from the refurbishing manufacturer. So i'll stick the SSD in and try that.
My specs are i7 2720QM, 12 GB Ram, 750 HDD (stock), 6990m.
So maybe i need to install that driver and try again with the SSD...sorry for wasting your time i think mate! -

Install the apps and the drivers and lets see if it solves your problems -
Try adjusting the brightness settings with the ati ccc. Or install the OSD. Your choice.

I am a silly billy. Well sorta. I've installed all the drivers (btw you think i should do my bios or? What will it actually change?).
However, i still cannot use the keys to do the brightness. A little niggle i suppose but either way, i feel better now. In fact i just tried the keys there and none of them work, not just brightness....

in order to use the brightness keys, do the following:
Be on the latest bios
install factory video drivers
install latest OSD application from m18x downloads
install newer ATI drivers OVER the stock vid drivers http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/11-9_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
everything you are mentioning is fixable -
i just went to install that driver over my current one from your link and it crashed my laptop, and no longer hasa video drive :/
