Loafer, a couple of questions that require your particular expertise.

    1) Do you think I need thermal pads for the 5-pipe copper sink?
    2) What GPU temperature would you never go above?
    3) Do you think overclocking CPU would help my GPU firestrike score?
    4) What screen you got? Is there a high quality and vibrant colour 120 hz screen?

    Thanks

    Max

Yes you need thermal pads for all the ram and vrms. You must have good coverage on the vrms or your card will likely fail. Especially with the smaller "standard" sized standard cards like the eurocom.
I would highly recommend the 5 pipe heatsink as my first card would run at up to 90*C on the 3 pipe ones. I now never go over 75 max. I also have the m11x and m17x fan mods for cooling.
I've been tempted to try a 1440p display but I only have tested the 1080p 120hz stock replacement.
Overclocking the cpu will help for sure. I have a run with the 4700mq somewhere and it was quite a bit lower overall score.

N173HHE-G32 panel will work, one of the better panels out there but its a mod, nothing crazy like wires and such but fitment corrections.

Loafer, when my heatsink arrives I will do some more modding.

TheReciever, I will order the screen next week.
A question, though. N173HHE-G32 is a TN. Is there a 120hz IPS fit for a 17? Someone said on this forum that there are no 120hz IPS screens period.

Dell is selling new laptops with a nvidia 2070 and a 60hz screen configuration right now.

How come Dell can get a 2070 to work with a 60hz screen and we can't make a 1070 work on the same type of screen?

Not that I am aware, if there was one I would like to think I would've seen someone mentioning it at some point. I dont have a problem with this TN though, 94% NTSC and more importantly its matte. Glossy panels on laptops makes no sense to me personally.

You are focusing on the 60hz aspect when that isnt the detail to be focused on in the slightest, whats needed is eDP signal type and there are simply no 60hz on eDP that work on the Ranger (or at least that is currently known) that is also 40pin.

You can look on ebay at all the panels you want and you likely wont find a 60hz 40pin eDP panel, and if you do you still have to determine if it will work.

What happened was I'm a bit disappointed with LTN173HT02-T01 (a tn screen). Colours just appear a bit off.
People are saying that N173HHE-G32 is better and I will give it a go.

But maybe the underlying issue is TN vs IPS rather than the quality of a particular screen. So I was trying to see if there was an IPS panel (they tend to be 60hz) that would work with my GTX 1070 (and everyone is saying there's not).
But if N173HHE-G32 is the best I can get for my configuration, then be it.

    Eurocom was offering B173QTN01 for 17s. So I'm thinking B173QTN01 or N173HHE-G32.

Eurocom is a trash company. Who sell exploding garbage at a premium with a warranty that expires in 90 days iirc.

If a 1440p panel worked I would be inclined to think we would have a post about it here, but as far as I know, no such panel will work.

I mean go ahead and try, we cant know without the first person taking that plunge but I wouldnt purchase that panel fully expecting it to work, that would be folly.

Only reason we know that the N173HHE-G32 panel works is because @Nomad took the plunge and tried it for himself first, then others tried it in the upgrade thread so 3 out of 3 attempts were successful thus far.

You can also create your own color profiles as well naturally, I dont have calibration stuff so I just work with the default modes so far.
