So this problem started at the beginning of last week, the screen will turn completely white then either on its own or with a little coaxing it will go back to normal without issue. I'm pretty competent with hardware so i took it completely apart monitor and all to check the cable connections and such and found no issues with loose cabling. The screen will go white if, when it's open and you’re looking at it, you grab the lower left of the base and the upper right of the monitor to move it etc.... It's only a few months old so I’ll probably have to send it back in, if i can find my original Wi-Fi card (bugger ran away i think).

ANYWAYS, the reason I’m posting is to see everyone's thoughts on this and if there is anything i can do myself before i send it back so I, in theory, don't have to ship it back. It gets daily use by my Fiancé and would severely impact her homework due to it all being online.

Thank you in advance, i know odds are I'm either replacing a cable or sending it back but still, feedback is always a GOOD thing.

Edit: I7 2720, 4 GB ram (another 4gb otw), AMD 6970m. I think that is all that's relevant.

does indeed sound like a loose connection, probably internal if you couldnt find any obvious things. probably will have to call them, maybe they can send someone out to fix rather than having you lose the use of the pc for a while

If the screen is going white, then the LCD is physically shot, or the data cable that goes from the LCD to the motherboard is defective or worn out due to constant opening/closing of the LCD lid.

There is nothing you can do on your own to fix it.

I too had a screen whiteout problem.

Although it happened only when I was using the HDMI out and tried using only the project option.

Was something to do with the integrated gpu on the CPU.

Well i just tried both igpu and dgpu and it happened to both so i'm assuming that would mean cable/LCD as previously stated. Also i didn't know you could get alienware to give house calls, though odds are due to my location i won't get one.... South Dakota doesn't have much for PC repairmen lol...

If you bought the onsite support at the time of purchase, then yes, you will have an outsourced technician come to your home or location of your choosing with the replacement parts.

Dell has contracts with various companies like Banctec, Unisys, and a few others to do onsite support.

Could be driver related. As I've been trying to update driver on my new m17 it sometimes goes all white as it switches from one card to the other.
