    Can anyone advise?
Very frustrated.. My M17x is just over a year old and is blue screening ever since I installed with the Windows 7 update.

Dell are providing "hardware support" but will not standover the software..
Since the inital crash, I have lost Wireless capability, the screen resolution has dropped off slightly, and the some of the keys have malfunctioned.

Dell answer was to change the motherboard ?, change the keyboard and the wireless network card..

We have since that attempted a number of recoveries and yesterday reinstalled the operating system..

Everything was fine until I reinstalled 83 "important" or "recommended" Windows updates.

Any M17x Alienware users experiencing the same issues and are there any fixes? ..
Please help. Would like to to hear back (before the blue screen event  )

    Katalin 2003 ..
So sorry . .My machine blue screened and I had to do a restore this time... Nightmare ..
Ur right .. My first one (and possibly the last). This was part replacement for the predecessor to the M17x which was also a disaster .. (Motherboards, Keyboard)..
I am not that hard on machines ...

I am running an original M17x

    Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850)
    System Manufacturer: Alienware
    System Model: M17x
    BIOS: Ver A02 1.00PARTTBLZ
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU Q9300 @ 2.53GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz

    Does that cover it

Try installing fresh. Don't use the update from Vista.

Wipe the OS clean and do a complete reinstall. Download all the updated drivers for your machine from Alienware/Dell and install them BEFORE you go installing other software. Then let Windows apply all the updates. This will probably improve stability.

Let it run for a while and see if it stabilizes before adding any user software to it.

They changed the motherboard with one that has the A02 BIOS? Lol Dell.

Yeah, follow what katalin and bwrainey have said. Update BIOS to A07, fresh install on Win7.

    What GPUs you running?
