Yeap, but I've seen someone on tonymacx86 that managed to patch "buri's framebuffer" (via clover I guess) to get the 7970m working on hdmi and also internal screen of his sager ! that's why I wanted to give it a try. But since it freezes my touchpad and keyboard... not sure lol

yeap you're right, I've seen that non legacy version; but the audio patch link on that page still send me on the legacy forum :(

okay I'll try to do it with unibeast, as I did it last year ^^

if you have a good DSDT i'd like to see it ;)

Sorry bout it not linking to the right post, here [GUIDE] Alienware M17xR3 : It's almost there! - Page 18.

I'll post up my DSDT but you'll have to make your own, the one from my system will screw things up on your system (DSDT is system and bios specific), but it should give you an idea of what a working DSDT looks like.

I am testing Mac OS X 10.9 mavericks on the Alienware as of right now. I have a 80% fixed DSDT, still need to figure out how to fix lid sleep and get the power button to activate the pop up menu, but intel hd 4000 now WORKS, as it was broken before I found and applied correct patches to DSDT. Sleep works from menu or power button. All USB ports work , including Usb 3.0 ports, both before and after sleep. Wifi works after replacing card + dsdt edit (have extra card for sale if anybody wants, PM me). Things that remain to fix:

    1. ATI Mobility Radeon 7970m - ONE user in the past, has gotten the 6990M to work on the Alienware M18x R1 with a personality edit + dsdt patch. I messaged him for advice, pray for a response!
    2. Audio. I have no idea how to patch appleHDA, and voodoohda is not a proper fix. I am still investigating this.
    3. Card reader, I am working on an injection method.

    What does work:
    1. Shutdown/Restart
    2. Sleep
    3. Intel HD 4000 full qe/ci/resolution
    4. Webcam
    5. Wifi (after replacing card with AR9285 + DSDT patch)

I'm not sure if anyone is interested my progress running 10.8.4 on a M17x ("R1" even though there isnt really an R1) with QX9300, GTX280M SLI. Or if its already something people have figured out (if so I'd love help with my two outstanding issues !)

I've got some issues left with the battery and the audio but everything else is running great. The dual GTX280M's are working well with an EFI string, acceleration etc, Wifi and Ethernet are working well also.

In the BIOS turn off Hybrid Graphics and disable the integrated graphics.
If your OS X installer wont see your internal drives its probably because you are using RAID which it cant see, so either switch to the standard mode or install to external USB drive and just velcro it to the monitor ;).

My basic approach was installing via standard install iAtkos ML2 then Booting with -x -v to get to finder.
From S/L/E Removing all the Intel GPU and ATI kexts.
Installing Chimera, then in Chameleon Wizard setting EthernetBuilt In, System Type Laptop, GraphicsEnabler=Yes, EFI Hex string from a Dual GTX280M.plist i cobbled together https://www.dropbox.com/s/aidt6sd0hf7o1f6/GTX280M.plist, PCIRoot=1, Graphics Mode 1920x1200x32, Restart Fix.I used an SMBIOS.plist for a MBP5,2. Additionally I installed the VooDooTSCSync.kext and the VooDooPS2Controller.kext for the single CPU Core2Duo Extreme (1cpu / 4cores) and the Trackpad and Keyboard respectively.

So far this has gotten me a system that is running well, with the exception of the Audio and the Battery troubles which I'm hoping to dial in next.

As I muddle my way through I'm guessing I'm going to need to just suck it up and solve everything via DSDT but, this is a step along the way.

    What is your graphics card?

Also, you probably have a kernel panic from AppleIntelCPUPowerManager. MSR 0xE2 is locked by default, but lucky for us, we don't need to patch the kext. Just download intel XTU (in windows of course), and you should see and option to disable package c state limit or control or something like that, which would unlock MSR 0xE2 to prevent kernel panics. You also need a patched DSDT to allow for intel HD 4000 to be recognized, or you can boot -x -f -v

Eh....it takes a lot of my time, time I don't have. Hackintosh is a try/learn on your own deal, PC hardware is so varied, especially on laptops. Your best hopes are posting on InsanelyMac or OS X project.

Definitely need the DSDT patch I had made earlier somewhere....google my thread for 7970M M17x R4. Should give a copy of my /Extra/ folder that I used, should include the DSDT and kexts for keyboard/mouse, battery. I have not figured out audio yet outside of voodooHDA, but that approach is less than favorable. I hope you are not using a distro, vanilla USB with chameleon is the most reliable. Also, plug into the esata/usb combo port and NOT the USB 3.0 ports or else it won't find the root device (HDD) due to USB 3.0 problems in OS X
