I don't like the fan configuration set up for the 6990m. They don't even activate until it gets to the 70 degree range. I'd like to have them activate earlier on. Is there a way to change fan settings in the vBIOS or a manual program for windows? 70 is too high for me.

The fan applet that is part of HWiNFO64 is the best means so far. It allows you to create a temp controlled fan speed protocol. You can also set it to activate at Windows startup, so that it becomes reasonably seamless. It's not perfect, but it's very useful. The settings below are more aggressive than I usually use, a leftover from some benching. But the point is the temp/fan speeds are completely adjustable.

Click on the fan icon located beside the Logging Start button on the Sensors screen. That activates the applet. Then click on Custom Auto which will reveal the lookup table shown above. Select the component temp (i.e., GPU) and sensor that controls the temp/fan speed progression and define the temps and fan speeds. I don't know what else to tell you. It's not working doesn't tell us much to work with. Play with it a little; it's very simple to use and really needs no instruction. It's worth the effort.
