    Hey guys,

I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the graphics card on the M17x R3. at the moment it's coming with a below par 460m, therefore I wanted to upgrade it to a 470m or 485m when they're released.

    Thanks

Yes you can, just as you can with the r2

Someone is trying to buy a 485 and throw it in there as a test.

There is no guarantee that either of those will be released by Dell as configurable options. Thus it may be difficult to acquire them directly from Dell.

Please use the search function, this has been discussed quite a bit.

    Thanks.

Yeah I know how annoying it is to see duplicate posts, but ive searched the forums throughly before asking and couldn't find the thread. Sorry.

Subsequently, that's fantastic news! I guess I'll just purchase the card separately, once other people start fitting theirs in successfully, at an extornionate price knowing dell.

I presume the same can't be repeated with the CPU as I believe it's soldered on the motherboard? (correct me if I'm wrong)

Edit: + Rep for you! :D

This has been asked before... please check the first several pages of the 17x forum.

    Quick answer -

    1. If the BIOS supports the card
    2. If #1 is true, then the card must fit if aftermarket card
