Casually browsing ebay for a M17x R1, when I found this very interesting M17x R2

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Alienware-...380888?hash=item362a263498:g:aV8AAOSwoVNZ5-Vv

It has a quadro M1000M installed in it, and it works fine with the internal RGBLED display. The seller went on to say it also works in the M17x R1. I'm guessing the special nature of the Quadro vBIOS has some extra features/abilities that make it compatible with RGBLED displays.

So who wants to drop cash on the M5000M ?

Does the 980M series not work in the M17xR2?

Maxwell works with LVDS displays, just not Pascal+.

M17x R2 RGBLED is a high bit panel, maxwell cards give weird/unusable colors with this panel. Apparently according to prema, quadros have special hardware and vBIOS to handle high bit displays.

Workstation cards seem to work with a lot of models , their bios is what makes it compatible with majority of the laptops out there.

Hm, my friend has a M17X R2 and I've been thinking of getting a Quadro M4000M for my Dell anyways, so I'll think I'll be the one to try it

Will not work, gives same color corruption as 965M, 970M, 980M. Anything based off GM204 will do this, M1000M and M2000M are based off GM107

Oh well, I want it anyways. Also, that specific listing has a M6100, not a M1000M in it (according to the description)

As far as i knew GENERALLY speaking desktop or otherwise, Quadros being professional card were/are meant to work with professional monitors including higher bit monitors???

EDIT: NVM it's older gen GPU core.
