Hello,
On my r3 laptop the metal media bar that sits at the top of the keyboard area is popping up slightly on the right. It didn't do this until I had a dell tech come and replace the keyboard and now it won't stay down. Is there any type of glue or sticky thing that would hold it down? It looks like a sticky square would hold it possibly but I'm not sure.

Contact support and have them replace the 'center control cover'
Documentation
Tell them to check part#
GDKVM - Keyboard Frame Assembly
and determine if that is the correct part (may not be, not sure). Reference it as 'Central Control Cover' and if necessary, direct them to the link above (source: M17xR3 Service Manual) -

I called alienware and they are going to send out a new one. Hopefully this fixes it because I'm worried that its popping out to far and will scratch the screen. Until then, a cloth is going in between when I close it.
From what I can tell it's just adhesive holding it down, but I think when the tech pried it up for whatever reason it bent a bit. -
I don't understand why AW just didn't use clips to hold it in place. I hope it's really not held by some cheap adhesive. I haven't opened it up yet to inspect.

You can request it - install yourself. If damaged during your install, it wont be covered. Let the tech do it.

Yeah unless you're 100% on being able to install it let the tech do it. One thing for you guys to keep in mind is mine was popping up on the right side as well when I got it because it was misaligned, the tabs weren't snapped down all the way, and as a result it felt like it would pop up when it shifted. Taking it off and snapping it down from front to back/left to right fixed it for me

Just received mine today. It's nearly flush. Only part that's slightly raised, maybe by half a mm is on the right side corner, right above the END button.

More and more issues...but more on the chassis or aesthetics rather than actual hardware issue...
It clearly shows Dell is saving cost by compromising on quality finish. -
It would be different if people at least had their laptops for a month. But they are getting it like this. Just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe there is a QC problem with where Dell is having these assembled. Things like missing screws, misaligned panels, sounds more like cheap labor than poor quality parts. China is usually extremely good so I'm guessing these are being made elsewhere.
