Hi guys, received my m17x r3 and love it! unforunately i tried to install 2x4GB modules in the back by the battery and left the 2x2GB under the keyboard and got a BSOD. Is it because they all need to be 4GB modules or are they DOA?

    Thanks

    my r3 shipped with 8gb total, (4x2gb)

They may be defective. The best method would be to take one of the added 4gb modules out and see if it blue screens. If it does then most likely the one that remains is defective. If not then swap them and see what happens.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't all RAM modules have to have the exact same specs? like you couldnt have one 4gb stick and one 2gb stick or even one 2gb stick at 1333mhz and one at 1600mhz
