Finally got my 17 in and tried using teamspeak, holy echo batman! Turned on every echo cancellation option still nothing. This is unbearable, any ideas
best I got so far is completely disabling the realtek effects including echo cancellation and reduction lol. Still echoy but can at least make out words.
If anyone's 17 is usable in teamspeak with the built in mic could you post the audio driver version? ty

Are you using the built-in mic that's in the 17? If so I highly recommend a headset or external mic, from my experience the built-in mic on the Alienwares are horrible

Yeah, what microphone are you using? The built-in one or an external? If it's an external, there have been issues with USB microphones.

trying to use internal, the one on my asus was usable. I'm not talking about echo in a channel with someone else talking, this is during a simple voice test it will echo infinitely, progressively getting LOUDER. I'm well aware of the difference between attempting to use a built in mic and a headset, but this is more akin to it being an intentional effect , there is no way the mic can be that bad. Turning off the realtek echo reduction and cancellation actually improved it, which is making me think this is driver related. basically.. 9 dollar cellphones have better mics than this atm.

Uninstall the Realtek drivers and see if the mic works without them. Windows should detect the mic on it's own, and if it's a driver issue then that should solve it.

If you are trying to configure it and getting echo there then try hooking up some headphones (without a mic) and set output to that to configure with. Generally speaking the app can't compensate for the speakers when it is working. Skype works great with the M17x R4 internal mic but teamspeak fails miserably.

With that in mind you should probably use a proper headset with teamspeak. Turn off the camera (which turns off the internal mic too) and go with an external. That should take care of it if you have to go that route.

+1 for a headset. Helps a lot especially in most fps games anyway as you get 3d positioning. ;)
