    Hey,
I was on skype last night for the first time with my new m17x, and my friend told me they couldn't hear me, they could only hear a constant humming/buzzing. I figured i just didnt set up my skype settings correctly so hung up, messed around with them, and it persisted, so i used the "listen in" function in the recording options, and i too could hear a constant buzzing, which i could only assume is coming from the LCD. Is there any fixes for this? I have my old m17x here since i haven't sent it back yet and it too has the same issue.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks. :)

but then wouldn't that hinder my ability to actually use the microphone?

    Help

They don't have help for Win 7 (which I am assuming you have). Its not skype, its 2in 7. Apprently we have more than one mic.

Right click sound icon and select Recording device. You have both microphone and microphone array. Your monitor is connected with hdmi? Perhaps the microphone array needs to be turned off and you need to use "microphone" - the first setting.

I'd like to know what you find too.

i've tried all of that, i think it's because i don't have the RGB LED, i've got the dual CCFL 1920x1200 LCD, so the two lamps are too noisy.

It is the actual mic array that is located where the camera is. This must be changed as the foam around the microphones are not in the proper placement. There fore causing a static distortion to the sound from the microphone array. Call Dell and have them replace it. I had the same issue.

Jeez when are they going to get there heads outta you know where. Well good luck this should fix it just make sure the tech doesn't over tighten the screws cuz that can also cause the foam to become compressed and cause distortion.

let's try this again. I just replied and my computer crashed because i guess 1 browser window is too much for it to handle.
I Think it's because i don't have the RGBLED, i've got a dual CCFL 1920x1200 LCD monitor, so i think the 2 lamps may just be creating a lot of noise.

Dell replaced the screen assembly today (apparently, the mic can't be replaced by itself). The problem seems to be solved.
