Hi guys. I formated my laptop completely and used my Alienware windows 7 DVD to re-install windows. i installed all the drivers i think i need and my laptop is working fine, the only issue is i've noticed some slow downs in some areas.
When i extract lets say a movie, it make take 2-3 mins in comparison to 1 minute before i formated. When i press the movie VLC doesn't open instantly it takes about 10-15 seconds, from what i noticed my gaming performance is equally the same to before i formated.

Anyone have any ideas ? the only thing i think of is that some threads said we had to do some CPU Throttling or something but i haven't done any of that. I deleted my recovery partition and only left the OSD partition which was a stupid mistake on my side because i can't restore to factory settings. If anyone knows how to restore the recovery partition that would be extremely helpful and a bonus :p

    Eitherway Thanks.

Once the original recovery partition is gone, it's gone forever unless you created an image that includes it. I you did, you could restore it from image. Honestly, it is not all that beneficial to have as long as you have Alienware Respawn recovery media and/or Windows installation media. If you do, the recovery partition is mostly just a waste of disk space.

Have you tested the read/write performance of the drive to make sure it is performing correctly? Use a utility such as Crystal DiskMark to verify it's not having problems running at appropriate data transfer rates.

Thanks Mr.Fox i just always thought the recovery might have certain optimization settings from Dell. Either way I'll test my hard drive and see if that is the issue.

My hard drive is 7200 rpm 320gb.
By / i mean Read / Write in mb/s using crystal diskmark for the following scores
    My Seq score was 92.57 / 89.32
    512k 27.23 / 37.21
    4k 0.304 / 0.520
    4kQD32 0.555 / 0.504

    My Laptop specs are a i7 2630qm / 6gb of ram 1300mhz / 6990m

Are the scores decent or as much as they should be or is it damaged? :/ Thanks

That seems fine for a mechanical drive, see if you can get a SMART test from a utility, like HD Tune or something else. Also could be the disk is just going out, usually a sign if it keeps locking up.
