Sup all, First post here, I've just ordered my M17x (Few days ago actualy) I am an australian so i used the Dell Australia outlet, they said it would arrive on the 3rd, its not the morning of the fifth, I am sad, Sure it will get here eventualy

    Specs are

    2630qm
    6990m
    8GB
    750G drive

anyway, I've read up and found out that there is a second drive bay in the M17x, i can go ahead and put a 500GB drive straight in that can't i, I mean it should have Caddy, and cable yes?

Updating the drivers, i am sure i will have to do that the second it gets here? first ati card in a while so that will be interesting..

Annnnnnnnnnnnd lastly The differance between HDD and SSD, Are they worth it? i can pick up an 80GB Drive for about 100 bones, i was thinking of putting that in the second bay or the 500GB, And running wow/rift/aion Since those are Random read heavy games would i really notice a differance?

And lastly, If anyone can reccemend a Good SSD if they are worth the effort, for 150 dollars or less, Depending on size.

    Hi!

Yes you can put a drive straight in, it comes with the caddy.

Im using a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD. Its lightning quick, but i dont install games on it as i like to save space. To my knowledge, only load times are affected.
If you do go ahead and use an SSD, may i recommend biugger then 80GB as about 19GB will be used up by Windows and essential apps etc.

As for Drivers, i believe Dell ships the laptop with the latest ~Drivers that are available on the Dell website.

SSD are worth the money, the speed diference is amazing. 80GB seems a little low see if you can find a 120GB/128GB Sata 3 SSD.

What type of screen does it come with?

you can grab a crucial m4 64gb for just over $100

as for installing the drive, it was a little strange to me at first, but you will figure it out. I wouldn't have upgraded ram and hdd from dell, as its much cheaper to do so through newegg ( i got 16gb for $130), 750gb for under $80, etc....

Well, Chances are i wouldn't be installing windows on it, Simply for the fact that the load times for windows would be worthless, i don't usualy turn my hardware off.

Dunno what you paid for it but if it doesnt live up to the expectations you can import a brand new one from the US.

The M4 boots into Windows in about 18 sec.
