Only took 16days and finally my little cooper ram heatsinks came in. I place them along the copper heatpipes on my CPU(I7-2920ES). I haven't completed my mod yet but just by drilling some holes in the bottom cover along the heat pipe area and blowing air in, my temps at 4Ghz max out at 86oC when playing Mass Effect 3. I have to pickup a dremel cutter to cut the rest of the area on the cover out. And pickup some mesh to cover the hole and see how it goes. Here's a pic of my temps.

Nice, but cant you just use a notebook cooler? Dont think you are running 4.0Ghz at a daily base are you?

I am using one. But exposing the heat pipes of the cpu cooler and adding a ram heatsinks(simple mod) increase the surface area for cooling. It stops the cpu from throttling when it hits its temp limit.

You don't need 4Ghz all cores for ME3.... It'll run fine on 3Ghz lol. For stability and temp, run the throttlestop/prime 95 1024M test, not a game. Run some vantage CPU benchmarks too.

I think I can imagine what you are attempting with the mod, though could you post a few pics?

Once my warranty runs out I had planned on doing some modifications to the cooling system but yours sounds much easier than what I was honestly dreading.

If I read right, you put the copper shields around the RAM and are going to/have already connected it to the copper heatsink, aren't you concerned with heat from the proc causing electromigration problems?

    I'm watching this closely

ht addict, if you cut out the bottom out, please post some pics and temp results.

@ht addict You mentioned in the 78C throttle thread that you cut out the bottom. I'm interested in seeing some pictures if you don't mind posting some.
