I have an Alienware M17x R4 with a 660M and I'd like to overclock it beyond the limits Nvidia set on it. Currently with MSI Afterburner I can only set it to +135 on the core and I've read that the 660M can clock higher even with stock voltages.
In my case however I'd like the limits to be removed and a slight bump in voltage since the cooling on the M17x R4 is surely overkill for a tiny 660M, I mean I'm running +135 Core and +400 RAM right now and the average temps while game is just 60c while sitting on a desk not elevated, so I think it can surely handle more.
A quick search around didn't really reveal anything useful on how to modify the vBIOS on the card, but I did find a post on another forum that had pre-modified vBIOS for a 660M but I'm not sure if that would work for me.
Any input would be appreciated.

Hi, yeah you will need a vbios mod to unlock the +135mhz limit. An overvolt will need a vbios set to the voltage you want, e.g for my 680m there are four vbios available. One just to unlock the clock limit and three that also provide overvolts of different voltages.
You will want a Vbios from a reputable modder. I use either Prema or SVL7.

I did mention in my first post that I did find pre-modified vBIOS's and those are from slv7 on another forum but nowhere did it say it was good for a Alienware. It did say Dell somewhere on there but I'm unsure about compatibility. I'd post the link here but I'm sure if that's allowed.
I also checked slv7's activity on that forum and his/her last login was back in 2015... so requesting my own vBIOS modified wouldn't really be possible anymore.
Any suggestions?ll_r1d0_ll likes this. -

You need 5 'quality posts' to get download privileges
The vbios files are specific to the card OEM and not specific models. The 680m came in two flavours, Dell (2gb) and MSi (4gb).
Links related to the thread are not a problem here
Prema has his own site premamods.com, worth a look, and he does respond on this site on occasions.

So does that mean the 660M vBIOS from this thread https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...ing-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks/& should work fine for me?
But it is highly unlikely that I could request slv7 or Perma to personally modify a dump of my vBIOS is it? I also checked Perma's website and it's still under construction. -

.
Prema's site is weird atm, it used to be a wordpress blog but that is private now. I do know he had partnered with a bunch of suppliers making those bios files unavailable to the public, so he is still in the business of bios mods. A commission may be possible? Svl7 seemed to have moved on some time ago
