So I just bought a 27 inch BenQ GW2750 monitor and the HDMI cable i hooked it up to my laptop with does not display it on my monitor. I tried all the options I can think of already but the monitor just goes into sleep. When I plug my vga cable in however it works. Any clue as to why? My laptop is the R3 with the 1600x900 display and a GTX 460m

Did you make sure the HDMI out is active? I think it has an on/off function.

Yes i tried switching displays, pressing FN+F8, rebooting. Nothing happens. When i press FN+F8 it just tells me "Please input HDMI input device"

Ahh, I found the problem. Luckily I had a vga cable. I had to change the monitor settings to auto switch to HDMI

Ah ok, I figured it was something like that. Good to hear it's working right.

FYI, the Fn+F8 is for the HDMI port on the right hand side of the computer. It is for projecting what you plugged in on your M17x' screen.
