As of lately I've been trying to figure out why my 260m is overheating up to 105c.

New problem occurred the other day that seems to be persistant..

As I was starting up the pc I got an error message saying something on the lines of 'AC adapter cannot be identified, different than the 240 watt shipped"

Now the battery will not charge unless I take it out and put it back in which seems to fix the problem.
(I am aware of the fn+f2 enable battery)

Could this power issue be the reason my gpu is overheating?

I've also stated in another post that my fan's do not seem to know when to speed up. They stay at normal speed rather than vrooming up.

    Thanks in advance once again.

I'd like as many replies as I can get.. I'd really like to get this fixed.

(Shipping it back to alienware is not optional.)

The reason for the adapter error on DELL laptops (maybe that would apply to the Alienware laptops too) is because a central pin in the power cable that identifies the adapter is not connecting (because of damage in either the cable or the connector itself), did anything happen to the laptop recently?

Also, for the overheating issues, have you updated to the latest BIOS? And how long has it been since you cleaned your laptop, is it dust build-up?

    Yes, flashed to A04 twice.

    No changes.

    Laptop is clean.

    Any other ideas?

I had an issue after flashing to A04 where my GPU fans would not kick in when the GPU's started heating up, they were getting into the high 90's. I flashed back to A03 and this solved the problem. Also, this didn't start right away either. I did a respawn without any luck before i suspected that the BIOS had anything to do with it. As soon as i went back to A03 the problem went away and hasn't happened again.

Hmm, I was thinking about going back to A03

Do you happen to know where I can find the A03 Bios?

GPU still sitting at 100c after flash when running a non taxing game.

The metal vents on the left back side where the 260m sits is scorching to the touch.

Have you checked to make sure your GPU fan is spinning? Do you hear it kicking up when in use? Seems like a fan problem would be the only thing that could let it get that hot.

    Fan is spinning.
(not as fast as I would like it to.)
I'm completely at a loss here.

Sounds like the GPU. When the fans are running top speed, you know it.
My single 260M runs no more than 60c - 65c running MOH.
