Lo and behold, I'm back with more issues from my R1. Lately, I've been BSODing and crashing quite a bit and it still has issues detecting the charger (causing it to boot into low power mode). Is there any chance I could just get AW to send me an R2 which seems to have less issues?

And probably one of the biggest things, it crashes coming out of hibernation.

The BSODs were the graphics driver. The flat-out instant-shutdown crash was a few minutes into Minecraft.

What graphics driver do you use?
Did you disable PCIe Gen 2 in BIOS? If not do it and see how it performs after: BIOS > Advanced > Graphic Options > PCIe Gen 2 > Disabled

How about your temperatures, were you able to see how high they get while gaming?
Have you replaced your the thermal paste on your GPU dies or cleaned the heatsinks?

    What's the BSOD error code?

I didn't record the error code, but I saw nvtlm(or whatever).sys which I know is the graphics driver.

Temps weren't high. The one that just shut right down (no BSOD) was when I just started Minecraft. I don't think it would've been temps as I've done longer sessions (it was only about an hour of CS:S) with no issues. I did upgrade the drivers though just in case.

And I've never replaced thermal paste or cleaned the heatsinks. I should probably do that.

Yes you should follow these two videos:
M17x Teardown Video1 of 2 **READ SAFETY PRECAUTIONS PRIOR TO REPLACING PARTS** (Official Video) - YouTube
M17x Teardown Part 2 of 2 **READ SAFETY PRECAUTIONS PRIOR TO REPLACING PARTS** (Official Video) - YouTube

And most important when installing your graphic drivers follow these steps:

-download CCleaner (we'll need it later)
-uninstall previous display drivers via Control Panel and reboot when prompted
-boot into Safe Mode (pressing F8 after the Alien logo and choose Safe Mode from the list)
-run CCleaner and choose to clean your registry in order to have old display driver fragments removed
-reboot and install your new dispaly drivers choosing "Perform clean install"

    Cheers
