hi guys i got my m17x r3 with 580m + 3d today......this is my first alienware and i have to say im impressed ....its really good .......i thought it would be heavy as hell but surprisingly its of moderate weight not very heavy ....but it does look big ......now come the problems i have not installed any games or heavy duty softwares so cant comment about the performance....regarding the built quality the battery doesnt sit perfectly , it does move when tapped , and the plastic bar on the left side of the ports is loose it doesnt sit properly , will a dell rep be able to fix it ? nothing big but its annoying .....let me know ?

Call Dell to fix it. You didn't pay for a premium laptop that wasn't put together properly.

hey, not sure regarding that bios upgrade. i am on A04 and have no problems thus I dont want to risk any issues by upgrading to A08 ;-) regarding loose battery, i had same problem, dell texnician ordered new chassis and battery, he broke my motherboard during switch and it ended up with ordering of replacement for whole machine. This one also has loose battery, although its much better and i can live with it. but i am not sure about that plastic bar on the left side, dont have this problem.

guys my temperature for gpu are around 60 C when not stressing isnt it high ? ....and the cpu 56-60.............................is there anyway to remove throttle on 580m ? it does throttle a lot

since A06 already got the throttle implemented you first have to flash A04 using dells executable.

after this, get bios A08 and flash it via blind flash.

if you follow every step exactly as written down by lvneptune, its safe (i just did it and it works perfectly)

i didnt use the 3D-option yet and since i updated to the latest nvidia-driver 280.26, obiviously (althought release notes say otherwise) these dont support the 3D-option in the M17xR3.

hm it seems im the only one who cant use 3D or at least im making the same mistake over and over again.

    the way i tried was:
    go to the nvidia-control-panel
    activate "stereoscopic 3D"
    the 3D-vision assistant pops up
its showing you these 2 pictures and asks you to view each with a different eye (using nvidia glasses ofc) > i see the same picture, no matter if left or right.
hence when i click them it tells me "hardware not working properly"

what am i doing wrong? is there any other way to activate the 3D-mode?
