the computer isn't recognizing that there is even a disk in there. What can I do. Dell still hasn't transferred the warranty to me.

Dell support has me listed as the owner thank goodness so they are sending a technician out to replace the drive. Uggh! I love this bleeping computer. My COD:MW2 disk is in the drive.

Have you made the request to transfer warranty? If so, I'd call up Dell anyway and quote the quick service code or service tag on the bottom of the laptop. If they say you're not the same person that the warranty is assigned to, tell them that you've got a warranty transfer in progress but it isn't complete yet. They should let you do the repair anyway.

If the person on the phone complains, ask to speak to their supervisor and try again. At worst they'll make you wait until the warranty transfer has been done.

They didn't give me any problem. They have me listed as the warranty owner but I never received confirmation of it. They had my name and street address. A tech should be arriving when the part shows and will have to take this one apart to get my disk out.
