Lucky guy... if only you could plan ahead things like that. It would save you some good money.

    No kidding.

To be fair, it took them three weeks to fix my computer. I was literally without a computer for that entire time except when I was at work (which of course is VERY limited computer use).

So great to have her back. Had to respawn once they were done swapping the multiple parts that failed all at once (video cards, LCD, and memory) but she's working almost good as new now.

I'd do it all over again for the upgrade though. That's a big kaboom, I couldn't believe it when Catalyst told me I had 5870s and hardware manager confirmed it.

Same thing just happened to me, though luckily only my second 4870 failed so i will still able to use my M17X with Crossfire disabled. Dell gave me two 5870's instead, also only took about 3 days to get fixed (card failed on Saturday night).

Yeah, most GPU replacements are now 5870's on the r2. I've heard a lot of locals that own R2's get 5870's. I'm on 4870's still so when the time comes, oh boy. Not gonna rush the damage tho as they work fine. :)

It's been some time now Dell has been out of stock for the 4870Ms.
